The Treasured Promise of Eternal Life

Holy Communion, or the Eucharist, is a very important Sacrament in our church community. We believe that at every Mass, the bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Jesus and that we can receive Him in this special way.

During this time of the Corona Virus pandemic, so many people have not been able to receive Jesus in this way. Yes, we can make a Spiritual Communion, but these months have truly helped so many to appreciate the importance of the Sacrament of Holy Communion in our lives.

Jesus multiplied bread and fish to feed the multitude in the Gospel account. This was an example of what He was to do at the Last Supper, when the Sacrament of the Eucharist was instituted. Jesus has fed multitudes over the centuries in this way.

The word Eucharist means to “give thanks”. This is what we do every time we share in the Body and Blood of Christ. We give thanks for all that our Savior did for us in his passion, death and resurrection to give us the treasured promise of Eternal Life.

May we move forward in faith, knowing that the Sacrament of the Eucharist can strengthen and sustain us in so many ways! And let us continue to pray for one another.
