The Season of Advent begins! This is our time of preparation for the Birth of Christ at Christmas.
The great challenge of this season is to make sure that it truly is a spiritual preparation we are undertaking. We can get so “wrapped up” (no pun intended regarding gifts) in the social aspect of this time of year that we may lose sight of the true “Reason for the Season”!
There are many ways, including through daily prayer and spiritual reading, that we can keep the focus in the right place.
Our Advent Reconciliation Services, the Sacrament of Communal Confessions, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Monday, December 16. What a wonderful way to prepare for Christmas by receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation along with fellow members of the parish! We can truly make these days of Advent be days of joy and peace. May this be that kind of special time for all of us as we prepare for Christmas.
And let us continue to pray for one another.
