This weekend I am speaking at all the Masses regarding our parish’s involvement in the interfaith organization call Faith in Action for Strength Together (FAST). St. Cecelia parish has been a part of FAST for many years. It is an interfaith coalition working together on concerns that affect everyone in our community. We join with people of faith throughout Pinellas County to be a voice and witness for others.
Lent is a time of sacrifice, it is true, but it is also a time of looking for ways of doing something extra in the name of Christ. On Monday night, April 8, at 7 p.m., the annual FAST Nehemiah Action will be taking place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. We will be joining with our brothers and sisters from diverse congregations to present to our public officials our concerns regarding affordable housing, youth options to arrests, and other matters regarding criminal justice. In the scriptures, the Prophet Nehemiah called a great assembly in Jerusalem during his time. We plan on having this great annual assembly in his name in Pinellas County that night. We anticipate over 3,000 people being present. If you have never experienced the Nehemiah Action, please give it your prayerful consideration this year. We can help arrange transportation. Please check the bulletin for more details and plan on being with us!
May this holy Season of Lent continue to be a time of spiritual growth and renewal for all.
And let us continue to pray for one another.
