Feast of the Epiphany

This weekend we observe the Feast of the Epiphany. We know that this is a term that means “the Manifestation” of the Lord Jesus. Yes, we hear the account in Matthew’s Gospel regarding the Magi, who seek the newborn King. This is so much more to this.

Jesus is made manifest in the world. The Magi represent the non-Jewish or Gentile world. In other words, ALL people can come to know Jesus Christ as the Son of God!

Our Jewish spiritual heritage is very important and is always to be honored. We, as Catholics, have a high regard for the Jewish Faith. But, the Feast of the Epiphany reminds us that our faith in Christ is a universal or “Catholic” one. May we always respect the faiths of others.

May this Feast of the Epiphany remind us that, as we courageously live the Gospel, we are all called to holiness and spiritual growth.

Jesus Christ was born to show God’s love for all people!

And let us continue to pray for one another.
