The Season of Advent is upon us! This is a wonderful time of year when we begin to prepare for Christmas.
So, we put up the trees and wreaths and begin to prepare to send our Christmas cards and start the process of buying gifts, right? Well, yes, that is part of our preparation, but the deeper question focuses on how we are spiritually preparing our hearts for Christmas.
What we truly prepare is our spiritual perspective on the fact that God entered into human history and became one of us. Jesus, the Son of God, shows us the fullness of God’s love for us.
Congratulations to all of our young people who celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time on Saturday morning! May God’s peace and forgiveness be a comfort to you always!
So, yes, as we courageously live the Gospel, we prepare to celebrate Christmas with our family and friends. This is very important. But, let us never forget to truly prepare our hearts to welcome the newborn Christ Child.
And let us continue to pray for one another.
