The Nativity of St. John the Baptist

This weekend we celebrate the Nativity of St. John the Baptist. This observance doesn’t usually fall on a Sunday, but this year it does. We think of how St. John the Baptist proclaimed the coming of Jesus and introduced him as he began his earthly ministry. We sometimes call St. John the Baptist the “last of the prophets”. But he was the first to recognize truly who Jesus was…the Son of God. May we continue that work of St. John in our own lives as we serve Christ and recognize his presence always in others!

Many people are on vacation now that summer is underway.  Let’s pray for the safety of all travelers. May this time of year be a true time of rest and refreshment for all of us.

And let us continue to pray for one another.
