Pause, See and Return
So how are we doing in this Season of Lent? Have all of our good intentions from Ash Wednesday stayed with us? Maybe this Lent has been more of a challenge to us that we first imagined. Now is the time for us to redouble our efforts and truly make these days a time of true spiritual growth.
On Ash Wednesday, Pope Francis gave a wonderful homily regarding this time of Lent. He stated that we should do three things in this special season; pause, see and return. We should pause to take time to pray and meditate on the importance of this time and how we can link our lives to the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Then we should see in a new way. Can we not better see the face of Jesus in others? Can we not see that the world is so in need of Christ’s mercy and love? And then we need to return to the God who loves us so much. Sometimes we can easily wander away from the embrace of God, but Lent is our time to return and be even closer to our Creator. The Pope has an excellent sense of the spiritual life and he so powerfully shares it.
Don’t forget about the Faith in Action for Strength Together (FAST) Nehemiah Action at Tropicana Field on Monday night, March 19. Let’s make St. Cecelia parish proud by showing up in powerful numbers to witness for affordable housing, reduction youth arrests and other youth concerns. See you there.
May this holy Season of Lent continue to be a time of spiritual
growth and renewal for all!
And let us continue to pray for one another.
