This Sunday is the First Sunday of Lent! We begin our spiritual journey toward Easter. It is a time of grace and renewal. Let’s all open our hearts to whatever God might intend for us throughout these forty days of Lent.
Also, you will notice that there are nomination forms available in the church as we are creating a new Parish Pastoral Council here at St. Cecelia Parish. Right now, we do not have a formal Parish Council. As our diocese is preparing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its founding in 1968, there is a Visioning Committee in place to set goals and objectives for the future. As these are developed, we have a wonderful opportunity to do the same for our parish and align ourselves with the wider vision of the diocese.
A Parish Pastoral Council is such a visioning body that would set goals and objectives for St. Cecelia Parish in the future. Please nominate an individual or individuals in the parish that fit the criteria. This is not an election, but there will be a discernment process after Easter that will enable us to put together this council. There will be more information provided in the bulletin in the weeks to come.
So this Lent is a special and spiritual time for all of us. Let us continue to move forward into the future as we give thanks to God for our past!
And let us continue to pray for one another.
