Breaking through barriers
As we think about how we want to welcome peo
ple to our parish, we know that sometimes this can be more difficult that we might think. Those of us who have been at this parish for a long time feel right and home, and sometimes new comers can be a real challenge.
But we are encouraged to remember that “all are welcome” in our faith community! This means that we must greet everyone with kindness and enthusiasm as we see people coming to be a part of our faith community.
There are so many divisions in our world today. People are divided by race, culture and religion. We want to break through those barriers and know that each and every person is a child of God and an unique personality!
It sounds easy as we think about it and yet, how difficult it really is to be a welcoming community of faith.
I am so happy when I hear that people feel welcomed in our parish! It lets me know that we are doing what God has asked of us, to welcome the stranger and to get to know those who are new.
My thanks to our ushers and greeters at our Masses who reach out to everyone. May God continue to bless our parish with a welcoming spirit.
And let us continue to pray for one another.
