The love of Jesus Christ extends to everyone. Our Gospel reading this weekend reminds us of this. Jesus reaches out to help a Canaanite woman, who is not of his faith. This was a kind of social taboo in the time of Jesus, yet he overcomes this and shows her love and mercy. We are reminded that we too, as believers, reach out to all people in need with charity and generosity.
We welcome Fr. Mike O’Brien to our parish this weekend. He will be speaking on the important work being done in our diocese with the annual Propagation of the Faith Appeal. The work of St. Clement Parish in Plant City, Florida, is so important as we reach out to our brothers and sisters who are in need. Everyone deserves the opportunity for education, health care and employment. Please welcome Fr. O’Brien and his message with open hearts and generosity.
May God continue to bless our parish with kindness and a true welcome for all people, whatever their background or culture.
And let us continue to pray for one another.
Fr. Robert J. Schneider
