As we think about how we want to welcome people to our parish, we know that sometimes this can be more challenging than we might think. Those of us who have been at this parish for a long time can feel “right at home,” but we can never forget how important it is to be welcoming to new members.
There are so many divisions in our world today. People can be divided by race, culture and religion. We want to break through any of those barriers and know that every person is a Child of God and a unique personality, created in God’s image and likeness.
I am so happy when I hear that people feel welcome in our parish! It lets us know that we are doing what God has asked of us, to welcome the stranger and get to know those who are new.
My thanks to our ushers and greeters at our Masses who reach out to everyone. My thanks to all who are involved in ministries in our parish. Your kindness and dedication make all the difference. As we continue to strive to be “courageously living the Gospel” let’s continue to be a sign of welcome and hospitality to all!
And let us continue to pray for one another.
