Hurricane Preparation

St. Cecelia's is involved in a disaster preparedness plan in conjunction with Emergency Management of Pinellas County in Florida. We focus on helping people find suitable shelter during natural disaster events, including hurricanes, major fires, chemical spills or floods. During such an event, the homebound and the elderly will be placed in a Host Home.

Almost 600,000 Pinellas County residents live in evacuation areas! If you live in a non-evacuation area, make sure you have a safe space within your home (a small room with no windows). If you live in an evacuation area within our parish boundaries and need shelter, please contact us for further information.

WILL YOU NEED TO EVACUATE?

Do you live in a mobile home? If yes, you are required to evacuate for all hurricanes.

WHAT IS YOUR EVACUATION LEVEL?

If you don't know, check with Pinellas County Emergency Management.

DO YOU LIVE ALONE OR HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS?

If so, you should register now to stay in a Host Home or locate a shelter with oxygen and a back-up generator.

Host Home Program

Is your home above the evacuation levels and well constructed?
Do you have a "safe room" in the center of your home or a room with hurricane-safe windows?
Are you willing to invite one or more person to stay with you during and after a severe storm or disaster?
If so, you qualify as a Host Home participant.
